The week's half gone, hurry!

** ICCAD-2005 is happening at the DoubleTree Hotel in San Jose this very week, November 6th to the 10th. This is one of the 'real' conferences – real engineering, real science, real stuff. Please note that organizers say this year, "in addition to traditional CAD topics, ICCAD has expanded its focus to include innovative design technologies for devices, circuits, and systems."

The program includes a keynote on Monday from IBM's Peter Hofstee discussing "The Cell Processor, Applications, Architecture and Design in the Multicore Era", and a keynote on Wednesday from Tabula's Steve Teig discussing "Make it Programmable, or You Won't Make It!". There's a whole lot of other things going on as well – tutorials, panels, and presentations covering everything from soups to nuts within the design paradigm. You really won't regret a minute spent at ICCAD. No one ever does.

** ITC 2005 is happening this week as well. The International Test Conference "the world's premire conference dedicated to the electronic test of devices, boards and systems" and is taking place in Austinfrom November 8th to the 10th.

The theme this year is "Test: Survival of the Fittest", which seems more than appropriate given the "tough test challenges presented by very deep-submicron technologies adn teh competition for dominance among alternative soltions."

The week will include tutorials, multiple sessions of course, plus an extensive exhibit hall. However, what should be of special interest to the EDA community is that the keynote is being delivered by PDF Solution's John Kibariantalking about yield reliability.

** Synopsys Interoperabilty Forum will be held on the Sun Campus San Jose on November 9th. It's the twice-annual event, this time featuring EDA VC guru, Jim Hogan, yielding up a keynote address: " "

** IESF 2005 – Mentor Graphics 3rd annual Automotive Integrated Electrical Solutions Forum is happening this week on November 10th at the Hyatt Dearborn. Orgranizers say "this is always a great opportunity to learn about the latest electrical and electronic design solutions for the automotive industry and meet with other industry practitioners."

** edaForum05 will take place in Hannover, Germany, on November 17th and 18th.

This is the fourth annual forum – topics this year will include low-power design, the design of robust systems under uncertain conditions, management issues surrounding chip design, and whimsically: "Wise Men Buy EDA - Real Men Build Fabs" ... the topic notwithstanding, let's make the leap and presume there will be some women in attendance as well.

The edaForum is sponsored by edacentrum, an independent association of 47 companies "dedicated to the promotion of research and development in the area of electronic design automation."
