Just a small restaurant in Paris!
Today’s Gourmet Corner is dedicated to a nice small restaurant, located in a normal Parisian Street, in a normal neighborhood far away from any tourist attraction. Well – just one! If you turn left after your meal, you arrive at the "Seine River" and the "Isle des Cygnes" with the copy of the "Liberty Statue" from New York. The Restaurant "LE TIRE BOUCHON" (The Corkscrew), is a small place, opened in February 1997, with a maximum 32/35 seats. The cook & owner, Laurent Houry, has a very inventive cuisine, mixing traditional French dishes with exotic & Far East influences. If you do like "Foie Gras" (duck liver) you can find very interesting ways of preparation there for very reasonable prices.Unfortunately the tables are to close to each other . (It can be an advantage if you want to meet people). The best is the round table, N° 8, for 6 persons, but the restaurant is full of charm and with excellent menus and, of course is always full, so you need to reserve well in advance. If not, you need to accept the table for two in front of the entrance door! (The last to be allocated.)For a Parisian restaurant the "quality/price" ratio is excellent. You have the choice of three set menus at: 22.00, 32.00 & 37.00 Euros or a la Carte.Starters: from 6.50 to 15.00 Euros .Main dishes: from 13.50 to 23.00 Euros .Desserts: from 6.50 to 8.50 Euros The Set Menus and a la Carte change every three months . Right now you can delight yourself with the "Spring Menus":The 22.00 Euros "Spring Menu" (Not on Friday & Saturday evenings) [Choice of a Starter, Main, Cheese or a Dessert] # Cold Parmesan Cheese Omelet with Black Olives **** # Trout Fillet with Almonds, Spinach Sprouts & Lime # Sweet & Sour Tenderloin of Pork with Basmati Rice **** # Choice of Cheese or Dessert from a la Carte The 32.00 Euros "Spring Menu" or Menu "Plaisir" [Choice of a Starter, Main, Cheese or Dessert Assortment] # Cardamom Bread-Crumbed "Foie Gras" (Duck Liver) with: - Strawberries Compote & Balsamic Vinegar # Tuna Tartar with Green Asparagus and "Espelette" **** # Sea Bream Fillet with Pepper Artichokes & Pine-Nuts Dressing # Guinea Fowl with fresh Morels Mushrooms & Parsley Root Purée **** # Cheese or Dessert Assortment The 37.00 Euros "Spring Menu" or Menu "Gourmand" # Same Starters as the Menu "Plaisir" - Plus - # The Sea Bream Fillet - Plus - # Alcohol Sorbet - Plus - # The Guinea Fowl **** # Cheese or Dessert Assortment If your choice goes from a la Carte: You can find the same dishes as on the "Menus", plus some extra specialties from the house, as the: # The Home Made Traditional "Plain" Foie Gras at 15.00 Euros # The Fresh Tuna Slab, Herbs, Chopped Tomatoes at 17.00 Euros # "Salers"(the best) Rib of Beef &Tarragon Sauce at 23.00 Euros # Mustard Veal Kidney & Pancake Potatoes at 18.00 Euros From the Desserts Choice: # Strawberries Soup & Rhubarb Compote at 7.00 Euros # Iced Coffee Mousse with a Whisky Meringue at 7.00 Euros # Spicy Crumbly Cake, Candied Fennel & Lemon Sorbet at 7.00 E. or # The Cheese Plate at 7.00 Euros # The Dessert Assortment at 8.50 Euros # The Sorbet Assortment at 6.50 Euros Interesting French Wine List at reasonable Prices So if you are in Paris this Spring or next Summer (New Menu), you have a nice small restaurant where you go to feel a real Parisian.
