Just a small restaurant in Paris!

By Freddy Santamaria

If I needed to write about Paris Restaurants, I could do it every day of the year, and always find a new spot.

Today’s Gourmet Corner is dedicated to a nice small restaurant, located in a normal Parisian Street, in a normal neighborhood far away from any tourist attraction. Well – just one! If you turn left after your meal, you arrive at the "Seine River" and the "Isle des Cygnes" with the copy of the "Liberty Statue" from New York.

The Restaurant "LE TIRE BOUCHON" (The Corkscrew), is a small place, opened in February 1997, with a maximum 32/35 seats. The cook & owner, Laurent Houry, has a very inventive cuisine, mixing traditional French dishes with exotic & Far East influences.

If you do like "Foie Gras" (duck liver) you can find very interesting ways of preparation there for very reasonable prices.

Unfortunately the tables are to close to each other. (It can be an advantage if you want to meet people). The best is the round table, N° 8, for 6 persons, but the restaurant is full of charm and with excellent menus and, of course is always full, so you need to reserve well in advance. If not, you need to accept the table for two in front of the entrance door! (The last to be allocated.)

For a Parisian restaurant the "quality/price" ratio is excellent. You have the choice of three set menus at: 22.00, 32.00 & 37.00 Euros or a la Carte.

Starters: from 6.50 to 15.00 Euros.

Main dishes: from 13.50 to 23.00 Euros.

Desserts: from 6.50 to 8.50 Euros

The Set Menus and a la Carte change every three months. Right now you can delight yourself with the "Spring Menus":
