John Cooley's SystemC Chicken Soup for the Sole (SystemVerilog Survivor)
|
******************************** Ingredients
1 SystemC Chicken resigned to its fate
1 cup SystemVerilog bluster
2 cups SystemVerilog bravado
1 tblsp. wound salt
1 sour grape, minced
3 slices humble pie
100,000 old shoes, grated
Directions
Preheat the oven to 400 degrees.
Pluck the chicken and boil it in oil for 3 days. Add bluster, bravado and a dollop of hot air. Blend the mix in a food processor til smooth, then pour into a 10 gallon pot. Bring to a rolling boil, stirring constantly.
In a separate bowl, beat the salt, the grape, and the pie slices until stiff and forming peaks -- this may take a couple minutes with the mixer set on high. If you've never made the recipe before, be patient. This is a learning process, but rest assured even old programmers can learn new tricks. Carefully fold the frothy salt/grape/pie mix into the hot chicken mix on the stove. Bring to a boil once again.
Remove the pot from the heat, cover, and let set for 10 minutes. Then remove the cover and sprinkle a thick 1" layer of grated shoes over the top. Now carefully place the pot in the center of the oven -- preferably on a cookie sheet to protect against spills -- and bake for 45 minutes. This will allow the grated shoes to anneal, forming a delicious 'crust' over the soup.
Remove the pot carefully from the oven -- it will be hot! -- and place it on the stove to cool. After 10 minutes, serve the soup to your guests. You'll have to break through the crust to get to the liquid, but that makes for a natural layer of 'croutons' when serving.
A hearty bowl of SystemC Soup is best eaten with a side of tossed salad and warm slices of extra sour french bread. A chilled Pinot Grigio is recommended to round out the meal. But beer will work as well.
Please note: This is an easy recipe to double, but that's not a good idea if this is your first attempt.
Also: Cooley says don't despair if this recipe doesn't work out the first time. Making SystemC Chicken Soup is not a thing for beginners or the faint of heart. Making SystemC Chicken Soup is for those who want to work at their art.
