Cherry Cobbler Cake
or
Geo. Washington Pie

Can't decide who to vote for?
Here's one from a Red State
and one from a Blue State.
Can you tell which is which?

Cherry "Cobbler" Cake

INGREDIENTS

1 can cherry pie filling
1 package yellow cake mix
1 cub butter (melted)

Place pie filling in bottom of 9" x 12" pan. Spread cake mix over cherry filling. Pour melted butter over top.

Bake 20 or 30 minutes at 350 degrees.

Cook longer for a crisper cobbler, and a full 45 minutes if you've doubled the recipe.

George Washington Pie

INGREDIENTS

3 eggs
1/2 cup granulated sugar
4 tbsp. melted buter
4 tbsp. melted margarine
1 cup Karo syrup (dark)
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 tsp. salt
1 cup chopped walnuts (or pecans)

Beat eggs slightly, then add remaining ingredients. Mix well after each addition. Pour mix into unbaked pie shell.

Bake in pre-heated oven at 375 degrees for 40 to 50 minutes. Bake at 25 degrees less if using a glass pie pan.

Both the Cherry Cobbler Cake and the George Washington Pie are scrumptious served with mounds of fresh whipped cream. Of course, ice cream is always perfect as well!
